Big Screen: Warm Bodies

If you were expecting for an outfit post or a photodiary or whatever, I was too. In fact, I was scheduled to blog an outfit but it came to me why not take a detour instead? :) Just this weekend I got to see the movie Warm Bodies and boy, one word: Benta! =)) I have quite a lot to say about the film that I wanted to make a review about it! Alrighty, how about a break first from the outfit posts and a movie review for now? Besides, I shall blog about it now before it's too late, if you know what I mean :P

Ok, this is my first time doing a movie review and I'll try try try my best to just share what I think and not spoil those who haven't watched it yet!

Movie: Warm Bodies
Genre: Horror, Romance, Comedy

First things first. I honestly didn't know anything about the movie before it came out in cinemas. I wasn't able to watch a single trailer nor see ads or posters. The first time I heard about it was when it was already showing, thru the tweets of people telling that they just watched/are watching/are about to watch blah blah blah Warm Bodies. Still, I didn't give a single damn especially when I found out it was all about zombies -______-

I mean, seriously, first we had vampires falling in love with mortals and now zombies too? (No offense to the Twilight fans. I watched the movies too, am just not a fan :) Let's put it this way: I'm not a fan of anything re: zombies so I just thought the idea 'was' stupid which made me have low expectations before watching the movie! I expected it to be all corny. I expected it to be foolish.

Fast forward to the ending! Thanks to my low expectations, I ended up loving and finding the movie really 'benta' after all.  I don't know but I think with or without those low expectations, I'd still find the movie great anyway :) I honestly could not really avoid comparing it to Twilight but unlike that vampire movie, Warm Bodies is way lighter in a way that you would really find yourself laughing in between scenes. For this kind of movie, I was expecting to see a lot of zombies eating human with flesh and blood all over the movie screen. Damn, I'm not just into that kind of movies. Yuck. Ew. But on a much much lighter note, it wasn't really at all a zombie apocalypse movie because of the romance, humour and cheesiness squeezed in!

Another thing which made me not interested at first's that I didn't who the actors or actresses were. It was actually only in this movie I get to see them for the first time. Comparing the movie with Twilight is one thing. Comparing the characters is another! Is it only me or the lead actress, Teresa Palmer, somewhat looks like K Stewart in the movie???  I swear they have similarities! I've read it in another reviews and comments too :p I even think Teresa looks like K Stew and J Law combined -____- Anyhoo, I came across these pictures and I just had to include it here. I really find these two beautiful as I was watching the movie :(

Teresa Palmer in a Philip Armstrong dress at the LA premiere of Warm Bodies. Damn, that lace detail is beautifully cut! I couldn't imagine the dress to be more beautiful in any other colour. Black is perfect.

Analeigh Tipton in a Barbara Bui dress and Guiseppe Zanotti sandals. She really looks familiar, I just can't recall where I first saw her. I'm thinking from a show way way back, like the ones from my childhood, I don't knoooow :) Anyway, she's so pretty :( I find her beauty unique :)

Did you know that Warm Bodies is based on Romeo and Juliet??? :) Because I didn't! Hahaha. You didn't see that coming, did you? I mean the zombie-movie-based-on-Romeo-and-Juliet part. :)) I actually only knew about it after I watched the movie and did some research. I said I don't want to spoil too much so why not just see it for yourself? :) I already gave you guys a hint! Let's see if you can figure out how and why :)

I really suggest you go see the film for yourself and tell me what you think :) Aaand of course what you think of my first attempt to write a movie review. Hahaha. Whatcha say? Will you still allow me to write more next time? :/ =)) Whatever, at least this is something new. :)

My zombie movie and heavy dinner dates, my sisters! Love youuuu! :'>

And now the best and for the effin' win movie poster! Something both zombies and mortals can attest to :P

Rolled Into One

Hola! Blogging again on a late Friday night or Saturday midnight or whatever. Weekends are the only days I can update my blog and do my usual blog hopping. My class schedule this semester is pretty much hectic and too compressed so I make it a point to focus on school on weekdays. School has been really more draining and tiring maybe because of my really demanding course, demanding subjects, demanding professors and yet, really compact class schedule. As a reward,  I finally squeeze in blogging, dates with friends, watch movies/tv series and other stuff by Friday afternoon right after my class.

To veer away my mind from school and anything academic related, I'll be talking about an outfit post, fashion, trends, anything but chemicals and drugs and calculations and everything we study. Besides, it's one of the reasons why this blog exists anyway. =)) Now the outfit!

First shot and I find it nicely overexposed that's why I just had to include it in this post. :P

Trends, trends everywhere! Of course people never let themselves get outdated with what's in and what's out not just in fashion but with everything. Whenever shopping, I usually look for the ones which are trending instead of the basics which I can freely buy and don anytime. However, I also make sure not to forget and let some pieces which trended in the past seasons stay in my closet forever.

Take my floral pants for example. It's been a long time already since floral print made its hit on modern fashion but it's still on the racks of every store though many new trends have bloomed since then.  Though girly and really chic, it still compliments with the masculine vibes of the denim studded polo.

Oversized denim polos are everywhere but I rarely see them with camouflage cutouts! Score!

Another trend in this outfit: snakeskin print bag. It's from my Mama and by far my favourite everyday bag! :)

Denim, studs, camouflage, florals, pastel colors, animal print, basic flats. Everything rolled into one! See, everything just depends on how you style them and of course how you strut what you wear whether trending or not :)

SM GTW pants
Chanel flats
Divine Lee's necklace
Casio watch (gift)
WAGW bangle set
Vera Wang bag

Before ending this post, I want to share to you something random but with regards to my rants above about school. I guess I've become already immune with the demands in school especially this second semester. I've never felt this much preoccupied with studies back in high school. Long to-do lists everyday are no longer new to me and complaining won't do anything about it or ease the stress. No choice but to put up with everything and just get things done, but of course with focus and setting priorities. Instead of hoping for days with no lists of things to do at all, I now learned how to be grateful for having at least "short" to-do lists sometimes. Hahahaha. Now that's looking on the bright side and valuing simple joys. Simple joys of a busy bee. :D

Hope you like this post and my outfit! :)

Carpe Diem

If you're following me on Twitter, you've probably seen at least a tweet of mine ranting random stuff about my high school. I'm attached to it like that! That's why I grabbed the opportunity last Saturday to visit my alma mater on their Family Day. Finally, familiar and friendly faces! Though not a student there anymore and it wasn't a regular school day, and being the not-really-obedient CICian that I am, I still made sure to follow the proper dress code of my school, no shorts, no flip flops and no sleeveless clothes.

I knew it would be scorching hot as usual and there would be a lot of moving around. Since I can't wear anything fancy or over-the-top, I spiced up the shirt-and-jeans combo! I carefully chose what to wear or what to mix with what. Key piece of this outfit? THE CARPE DIEM shirt! Am I cool now? HAHA. Of all my colored jeans, I chose yellow for the reasons: (1) Though not obvious and not really significant with the whole outfit at all, yellow compliments with color blue. Yup, my shirt's color is blue :D (2) I would be going to a really happy and gay event and what other colour is more lively and fun than a screaming yellow? :) (3) I'd like to relive that moment and feeling where I'm still a high school Senior. In my school, yellow represents the Seniors :)

Since I wanted to give the attention my Carpe Diem shirt deserves, I opted not to wear any necklace when I accessorised. It's also unusual for me to carry clutches instead of my hand or shoulder bags because of the size plus I've mentioned before that I like having many abubuts in my bag which "I think" are necessary. =)) For me, clutches are made for formal or intimate events. In fact, the reason why I took this with me in such a casual event is only because of its print. =)) But hey, I think I suddenly felt like I want more of em in my closet! And I mean it! :) It's just another situation where I tried something new (at least for me) and at the same time surprised myself in a good way :)

Another thing intended to spice up my usual outfit and another first for me is this bowler hat. I finally had that guts to don a hat which I obviously not usually wear. Bowler hat instead of a fedora hat, what do you think? :)

Thanks and love you, Mik! :)
